Profile

Catriona has worked in the not for profit sector for the last seventeen years at management and CEO level.  In the last ten years she has had a particular focus on management, development, funding, fundraising, governance, regulation / compliance and operations of small to medium sized charities. She is an active member of the national implementation group (Funded by the Department of Justice and Law Reform and co-ordinated by ICTR) of the Statement of Guiding Principles of Fundraising and was appointed to this role in 2008. She has an in-depth knowledge of the process both as an Implementation group member and having implemented the Principles herself at first hand in various organisations in the past number of years.  Catriona has facilitated workshops throughout Ireland on Signing up to the Fundraising Principles and many of these were funded by the Department of Justice (2013).At least  one hundred charities attended these events. 

She has a vast wealth of knowledge of the not for profit and charity sector built up from managing charities and particularly in the last two years since she founded her own business specifically focussing on helping organisations to Sign up to the Principles and advising /mentoring on a wide range of  governance issues. Catriona has reported to Boards and worked with Boards of various sizes over the years and understands the many challenges facing Board members of charitable and not for profit organisations.

Catriona is a graduate of University College Cork with an Honours BA in Italian and History and has post graduate qualifications in the area of rural development and rural tourism. She has a keen interest in keeping up to date with developments in the charity sector both nationally and internationally and has in the past attended courses and training in both the United States and the UK on philanthropy and fundraising.
